There were many spectecular moments on this trip: seeing ancient ruins, meeting warm people, experiencing a Turkish bath, cruising the Bosphorus and Mediterranean. It's hard to narrow it down to just one moment.
Helene in Natalia, TX, 2008
The whole trip was pretty much a spectecular for me. I guess Cappadocia was my favorite region because of the small villages, the people, the hot air balloon ride, visiting Gnome open air museum . Personally, Ephesus was the grand finale for me.
Zoe in Auburn, WA, 2008
I have many. The Cappadocia area and visiting with the locals and seeing their homes, Ephesus .

Turkey is a spectacular country. We especially enjoyed seeing the countryside and the out-of-the-way places. Having Ayse as our guide brought things alive for us.
Diane in Langley, BC, 2008
So hard to choose. There were many amazing sights and moments on our tour, however the top two would have to be Ephesus and the Hagia Sophia.
Jonathan in Chilliwack, BC, 2008
One spectecular moment was going to Capadocia and I enjoyed going to the Carpet Factory and having lunch at a village woman's home.
My spectecular moment was visiting the underground city of Derinkuyu. It boggles the mind to know that this city held thousands of people in the 7th-9th century and that the inhabitants could actually live underground for as long as 3 years. It is a site that is hard to explain to people that haven't seen it with their one eyes.
Katherine in Macon, GA, 2008
Both the cistern and Topakapi Palace in Istanbul were spectacular.
Christine in Vancouver, WA, 2008
Turkey was so much more than I ever expected. I have been wanted to visit Turkey for a while now, for reasons that are not really tangible. The culture, of course, because it seemed so different than my own. I had no idea all the ancient history I would learn, I wish I had read up on it all before leaving.
Caroline in Washington, DC, 2008
Cappadocia was by far my favorite .
Anne in Powder Springs, GA, 2008

John in RR1 Lone Butte, BC, 2008
Cappadocia - panoramic views from hot air balloon of the river valley, farming, dwellings in the hillside, rock formations, towns; plus a great operator to describe it all.

Ella in La Habra, CA, 2008
Having mosques pop up in the viewing screen was a trip for me because they looked like something out of Star Wars.
William in La Habra, CA, 2008
The Ephesus ruins were my favorite part of the tour. We arrived very early before all of the cruise ship tours and the heat. We were able to see most of the site without the big crowds getting in the way. We have found this to be one of the C.A. tour strengths as they often get to the sites before the crowds.
George in Redmond, WA, 2008
Cappadocia and Ephesus

Seeing the blue mosque for the first time and hearing the call to prayer; the sights, sounds and smells in the markets; and especially the visits with the local people.
Melanie in The Woodlands, TX, 2008
A sense of time - how old Turkey is, but yet how young the nation is. The peoples pride in their country. The history.
Bill in Kalispell, MT, 2008
Having lunch in a small village with a woman that invited us into her home. It was wonderful to experience hospitality like this. All the people of Turkey were delightful.

It's really difficult to say. I don't know if I had any one favorite moment or magic memory. I loved Istanbul and hated to leave it. Fortunately, the trip just kept getting better and better.
Sheila in Pacific Grove, CA, 2008
Turkey has great scenery, ruins, history, art, culture, and architecture.
Isabella in Decatur, GA, 2008
The hospitality and friendliness of the Turkish people made the trip very special. I was often invited during a morning walk for a cup of coffee. Families and students readily gave permission to take a photo. I am making a special point to share those photos with friends as part of my vacation album .
Joshua in Davenport, IL, 2008

Patricia in Portland, OR, 2008

Emma in Groves, TX, 2008
Impressed with the underground city of Derinkuyu in CAPPADOCIA. Amazing engineering accomplishment. Friendliness of the Turkish people. Felt comfortable wherever we went. The ruins of the City of Ephesus provided an insight of the living conditions of that era.
Hillary in Honolulu, HI, 2008
Walking down the road in Ephesus and knowing that Paul had walked that same road. I'm not a student of biblical history, but this really made it come alive for me.

Christian Dove,2008
I think my SPECTECULAR time was simply getting to know the people of Turkey and their culture. This was my first time out of the US and I found the Turkish culture to be extremely warm and friendly, but very different from what I live with daily.
Joshua in Colville, WA, 2008
The memory that is most summative for me is "beauty" - the varied natural beauty, the intricate decorations in tile, mosaic, paint and flowers, the layers and layers of time adding burnish to the buildings, cities, villages, the warmth of the people we met and the amazing mosques so full of space. These people know how to do architecture with restraint and power. And we did laugh every day.
2008
I have to say that the whole trip was wonderful. Everything was right for me. The destination, the free time, the organization, the choice of hotels, the food, the planes and especially the guide. Highlights are Istanbul and Pamukkale. Some of the magic moments were the “off the tour” visits: at a farmer's home for lunch.
Daniel in Seattle, WA, 2008
I thought the entire trip was great and what a history.
George in Maple Valley, WA, 2008
For me standing in Ephesus where St. Paul preached was spectecular. I never understood that this apostle came to preach in what was a thriving Roman city! The variety of things to see in Turkey astounded me.....beautiful scenery and natural sights, Roman ruins, Greek ruins, early Christian sights, Muslim sights, ruins and history going back 5000-8000 yrs. A.D.! Turkey should be at the top of everyone's list. There were SO many wonderful moments.
Patrick in Delmar, NY , 2008
It was fantastic and I'm glad to have done it in the spring before the heat
